WORLD RELIGIONS TRAINING: SIKHISM

Educators and administrators are invited to participate in a fascinating cultural immersion and training opportunity sponsored by Kaur Foundation and FIRST, in partnership with local Gurdwaras. A "Gurdwara" is a Sikh house of worship.

STUDENTS AMBASSADORS

Student Ambassadors will attend the Sister City International conference in San Jose. Participants will be conducting a simulation of the G20 Summit on the theme of Water as a Shared Commodity. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in local tours to learn how communities address: "Conservation & Restoration and Conservation & flood Control."

TEACHER AMBASSADORS

As a part of the California International Studies Project (CISP) State Network FIRST Teacher Ambassadors have an opportunity to attend a one week summer program to learn about the Face to Faith Program and to participate in the development of an Educator Teaching Guide to help students engage in this program which brings your classroom into dialogue with a classroom in another country.

You will integrate the elements of Common Core and the Partnership 21 Framework themes and skills as you develop a Standards/Common Core based plan focused on Global Environmental Issues for your discipline.

At the completion of the week, you will be prepared to have online interaction with another country in your classroom in the 2014-15 school year.

The 2014 Chinese History & Culture Summer Institute
Time: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm each day (except Aug 22nd - begin at 11:30 am)
South Coast Chinese Cultural Center 9 Truman Irvine, CA 92620 (August 19th – 21st)
Hsi Lai Temple visit (August 22nd, 2014)

On the last day of the program, all attendees will take a trip to visit the Hsi Lai Temple (transportation is provided). A celebration dinner will be held at 4:15 pm at the South Coast Chinese Cultural Center following the visit to the temple.
